What a delight it was to sit down with chef Peter Rudolph of the new spot Hey Jack, in Camas Washington. Just listening to what this restaurant has to offer had me craving everything. Peter and I also went out to roam the Camas Farmer’s market and talked about how he creates his dishes from the fresh and local food he acquires that day. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Arai Nursery in Camas, Washington to interview Val Mouser and Mike Arai. Val coordinates all of the vendors at the Camas Plant and Garden Fair while Mike grows the most beautiful flowers at his nursery that he sells at the fair. I journeyed north to Seattle in January to meet with Denis Hayes, the coordinator of the first Earth Day. He is now President of the Bullitt Foundation. Denis grew up in Camas, WA and I wanted to talk to Denis about his experience coordinating that first Earth Day back in 1970. How did it happen? What did he learn? How did this opportunity present itself? Listen in as Denis shares his story and how you need to grab the brass ring, when the ring is there.
